Landslide at Summit East

Due to the landslide that took place on Wednesday, January 7th, 2009, all Summit East alpine (downhill) operations for the 2008-2009 winter season will not be possible. Nordic operations have resumed on their normal operating schedule.

The slide, which took place late-morning Wednesday, severely damaged the slope at Summit East (reference photos below) and compromised three towers of the Keechelus Chairlift. Private homes were also damaged. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt as a result of this slide, the cause of which is still being investigated.

We are making it a high priority to re-open Summit East as early as next season. We're currently assessing opportunities and making our game plan. Rest assured that when we have a projected re-open date, we will let you know (and shout it from the rooftops)!
