Epic 2016-17 Opener
Best Opening Day in Years
Blower pow, cold air, and blue sky. Normally you can have a max of two of the three, but we lucked out and opened up with all three! The result was nothing less than spectacular! If you missed out, the above video may induce some jealousy...
The good news is that we have two more opening days coming right up! That's the beauty of The Summit and all it's variety.
Operations Update
Summit Central:
We're off to a great start and want to keep it going! Summit Central will open on Friday for limited operations, 9am-4pm. The unknown for Friday is whether Silver Fir will open as snow depth near the bottom isn't quite where we want it, but Thursday and Thursday night could bring enough snow to get it open. The decision to open Silver Fir will have to be made Friday morning. Suffice to say, we'd like to open it as soon as the base coverage there looks solid and good to go. The Summit Parks Crew plans to have some features in both Greenhorn Acres and Central Park for Summit Central's opening day. So if you wanna get your jib on, we got you covered.
Summit West & Night Skiing:
We couldn't resist so we're going to give everyone an early taste of night skiing at Summit West this Friday! West will be be open 9am-4pm Thursday, then on Friday, with Summit Central opening, West won't be open during the day, but will be open at night from 4pm-10pm. Saturday it'll run 9am-10pm for our first big day. Sunday we plan to run Summit West 9am-4pm. For next week, view our hours page.
Alpental:
Alpental is scheduled to open this weekend! We plan to run Alpental 9am-4pm both Saturday and Sunday, with Armstrong Express, Edelweiss, and Saint Bernard chairs. Operations for next Monday-Friday are yet to be determined, but we hope to keep the good vibes rolling.
Nordic:
We plan to open the Nordic Center on December 17th, conditions permitting.
Tubing Center:
You won't catch us saying this very often, but the last round of snowfall was just too dang light to make a big difference at the Tubing Center. The lower area of the tubing hill is generally pretty wet and this light snow just keeps melting when we attempt to fill in that zone. We're hoping that the next round of snow has a higher density.
Season Pass Pickup & Photos
Need to pickup your season pass this weekend? Please visit Summit West Guest Services to pick up your pass if it's already been purchased or to have your season pass photo taken if you have not already updated your photo for this season. All passes must have a new photo this year. We have a much larger facility and more staff at Summit West, which means you'll spend less time in line and more time on the mountain!
