2023-24 Opening Day Announced
IT'S FINALLY TIME! Thanks to last night's storm, another 12" inches of fresh has blanketed the mountain and there's even more on the way through Saturday. That gives us enough to hit the start button and get this season going! We plan to open for limited operations at Summit West this Saturday, Dec 9th. As usual, this special day is reserved for Summit passholders, Ikon passholders, and daily lesson guests only. Sunday the mountain opens up to everyone, however, lift ticket inventory is limited. The Summit team is hard at work preparing the mountain and can’t wait to see everyone back on the slopes. Scroll down to get all the details about opening weekend and beyond. See you soon!
Opening Day / Weekend Schedule
Summit West - Limited Operations 9am-4pm Saturday & Sunday
Due to thin coverage we will have limited operations and terrain for opening weekend. We plan to run Pacific Crest, Little Thunder, Julies, Dodge Ridge, and Upper Magic Carpet. Wildside is to be determined. The snow in the Wildside region still has a lot of openings from the very heavy rains earlier this week. We will continue to evaluate and work toward getting it open if conditions allow.

Caution: Thin Cover
Early season conditions exist. While we received a lot of snow last weekend, we lost a lot from the heavy rain this week. The rain and running water under the snowpack also open up holes. The fresh snow likely will not fully cover hazards or fill holes, it may just hide them. So be extra cautious. Look ahead and watch for marked and unmarked hazards, as well as depressions. While we plan to operate some beginner level lifts, conditions may be very challenging for beginners. Conditions and coverage will be best on the main runs where our groomers have had a chance to work. Ski and ride with care, it's just the first weekend and we all want to enjoy a long and fun season!

Operational Outlook
Lift ticket access will begin Sunday, December 10.
After opening weekend The Summit will close Monday-Tuesday. We plan to evaluate conditions and the forecast during the closure to determine if Summit West will open Wed-Friday, or if we’ll have to wait to reopen until next weekend (Dec. 16). Hopefully the weather works out in our favor.
We plan to open the following areas as soon as we have enough snow.
- Alpental - TBD
- Summit Central - TBD
- Tubing Park - TBD
All of those areas need quite a bit more snow to open. We continue to make snow at our Tubing Park to help get it open sooner.
More Targeted Openings - *Conditions Permitting*
- Night Operations - Dec. 19th
- Summit East - Dec. 26th
- Nordic Center - Dec. 26th
Stay tuned for updates as the snow piles up! You can see our planned hours and schedule for each Summit area on the hours page linked below.
Season Pass Info
If you reloaded your pass from last year, don't forget your Summit RFID Card and make sure you have a current photo in your account. Without a photo, you will not be able to load the lift. If you still need to pick up your season pass (for those who did not reload or have their card mailed) visit one of our convenient self-service pickup boxes. You'll find two pickup boxes in the lower plaza at Summit West near the ticket windows. Scan the QR code in your confirmation email to redeem your pass(es). We recommend taking a screenshot of the QR code at home in case cellular service is poor.
Ikon Passholders - Reservations & Direct-to-Lift
Have an Ikon Pass? Reservations are required, but it's easy! Make a reservation at alterramtnco.com/login and then head straight to the lift with your Ikon Pass. At five of our lifts (Little Thunder, Armstrong, Sessel, Holiday, & Silver Fir) you'll be able to leave your pass in your pocket, the RFID gates installed will scan your pass through your outerwear. However, at all other lifts, you'll need to show your pass so our scanners can scan the barcode.
Note: Ikon reservations are not required if you arrive after 2pm.
Reservations are required for Ikon passholders and we expect peak days to book out, so be sure to plan ahead.
