2018-19 WINTER SEASON

Terrain Based Learning™

Terrain Based Learning at The Summit at Snoqualmie
AT SUMMIT WEST

An Entirely New Beginner Experience

The Summit at Snoqualmie introduces Terrain Based Learning™ to the slopes of Summit West. Join us and discover how these new features can help you turn into a lifelong snowsports enthusiast.

What is Terrain Based Learning™?

Simply put, Terrain Based Learning™ makes learning to ski or snowboard easier and more fun. By using specifically shaped snow features to naturally control your speed and body position, Terrain Based Learning™ removes the traditional fears and anxieties associated with your first time sliding on snow, allowing you to focus purely on the fun!

This winter, our SnowSports School's learning areas will become the 'PLAYGROUND' with emphasis on Terrain Based LearningTM. Founded by Snow Operating, Terrain Based LearningTM has won industry awards for this innovative program, which focuses on a fun-first approach to the on-snow experience and utilizes shaped snow. First-time skiers and snowboarders can learn on features that include a mini-pipe, roller, banked turns, and the perfect slope.

Where Will I Find TBL Areas?

We plan on implementing Terrain Based Learning™ areas across three base areas over the coming years. Summit West will be first to become involved, then Summit Central, followed by Alpental. Currently, you can find our TBL areas in front of The Summit SnowSports building or in front of the Timberwolf Bar & Grill at Summit West. We look forward to TBL areas growing across the entire mountain!

Who Can Use TBL Areas?

These fun and engaging areas are open to the public to provide the best learning enviroment for anyone. The Terrain Based Learning™ areas have been specifically designed for use by SnowSports Schools at The Summit at Snoqualmie to aid in our learning experience. The Summit SnowSports School is continuing extenisve TBL training, which uniquely allows them to provide the highest quality of lessons on the mountain. Stay tuned to our new and existing products that take advantage of this amazing new terrain.
