Trail Dedicated to Sarrah Powers
On Saturday January 9th, The Summit at Snoqualmie dedicated and named a run at Summit East after Sarrah Powers. Sarrah tragically passed away last summer in an auto accident. She had lived in the Hyak neighborhood her whole life and was well-known in the community here at Snoqualmie Pass.
The Powers family has been calling Hyak home for decades. Multiple generations of the Powers family grew up right here, calling Summit East their home mountain. Although, like many others, they still affectionately call their home ski area 'Hyak'. This mountain is special to the Powers family, so when the time came to figure out which trail would be dedicated to Sarrah, it was a no-brainer. It had to be at Summit East.
Summit East had some new sections of trail added during the Rampart Chair installation, so it seemed fitting to include at least one of these new sections of trails in the dedication. This section of trail needed a name, plus it was connected to what was previously known as Rampart Trail. Rampart Trail eventually connects to Vic's run, which is actually named after Sarrah's grandfather. It all became very clear to both the Powers family and Summit management which run would be named after Sarrah.
Sarrah's Run begins at the top of Rampart Chair and cuts to the right, directly from the top. It then turns right onto the old Rampart Trail and continues all the way down, across Creek Run, down to the newest section of terrain and finishes at the bottom of the new Rampart Chair.
