Alpental Freeride Team consists of top-level freeriders and coaches from the Northwest who inspire passion, fun, commitment, sportsmanship, and who continue to pursue excellence in everything they do on the mountain. This program is for elite skiers and riders who have competed or know they are ready to compete in IFSA Freeride competitions. While at home, the Team trains at Alpental, in the terrain park, and other locations across the Summit. The team works on the skills and techniques that translate to success in competitions. While at competitions coaches work with athletes on mindset, line selection, course inspection, and competition readiness.

  • 20+ days of coaching
  • Saturdays at Alpental and select weekday terrain park night sessions
  • Coaching provided for select IFSA Regional and National Competitions (specific events will be determined and communicated preseason)
  • Ability level 9 and above only

Is The Freeride Team The Right Fit?

The expected ability, confidence, and commitment level of participants on this team is higher than any other Summit lesson offering so athletes will be evaluated during a mandatory skill assessment day (12/21/24 or 12/22/24 or 12/28/24)  to determine if they qualify for the team.

The team is for skiers and snowboarders between the ages of 12 and 17 that:

  • Are serious freeride athletes
  • Possess the skills necessary to confidently manage the most challenging of terrain.
  • Have or will obtain an IFSA membership for the season, ready to compete

What's Included?

This program includes coaching sessions each Saturday from mid-December through April (start date subject to resort opening date), as well as some Sundays. Alpental Freeride Coaches will also be at select IFSA Regional and National competitions across the Northwest to support athletes.
