New Quad Chairlift For Wildside

Out with the old, in with the new! We are excited to announce that the new Wildside Fixed-Grip Quad Chairlift at Summit West will be installed this summer, opening for the 2024-25 winter season.

Wildside has always been a local favorite thanks to the steep, fun, and unique terrain it serves. However, due to the location of the existing lift it’s always been somewhat difficult to access, and riding much of the terrain in the area also involved a long traverse back to the lift.

The new Wildside Quad alignment will transform the experience in this area of Summit West, providing more of the fall-line descents advanced skiers and riders love, with less traversing. Plus, it’s easier to access whether you’re coming from the parking lot or another lift and is an important connector to Summit Central/Mountaineers. Get ready to make even more grin-inducing laps in this gem of a zone next winter.

Modern Reliability

MORE TIME SKIING

The old Wildside lift has become less reliable over the years as well. We, and particularly our lift maintenance team are very excited for the steadfast reliability of a new Doppelmayr fixed-grip lift. We know you’ll appreciate spending less time waiting, and more time doing what you love.

A Better Ride

FEATURES

In addition to vastly improved reliability, the new Doppelmayr quad also provides a better experience thanks to kid-friendly restraining bars and a loading conveyor that makes getting on the lift easier.

Chairlift Construction

Our team plan began disassembly of the old Wildside triple chairlift in April and construction of the new lift will continue into late fall. The Wildside portion of the mountain stretching from Mountaineers to the bottom of Little Thunder Chairlift is a designated construction zone and closed to all access until the lift is complete.

New LED Lighting

With the new lift comes new lights as well. We plan to install LED fixtures on the new chairlift and convert other lights in the region, greatly improving the night skiing experience. Updating the lighting in this area of the mountain is another step toward reducing energy use and reaching our sustainability goals.
